How nocodb is put together
NocoDB is an open-source no-code platform that turns any relational database (Postgres, MySQL, SQLite) into a smart-spreadsheet UI with grid/gallery/form/kanban/calendar views, REST/SQL APIs, and workflow automations. It is a pnpm-managed Lerna monorepo: a NestJS/Node backend (`packages/nocodb`), a Nuxt 3/Vue 3 SPA frontend (`packages/nc-gui`), shared TypeScript SDKs (`nocodb-sdk`, `nocodb-sdk-v2`), a pluggable integrations framework (`noco-integrations`), and a standalone secret-management CLI (`nc-secret-mgr`). Data flows from the Vue SPA over REST/socket.io to the NestJS server, which uses Knex to talk to the configured metadata and user databases. It ships via Docker Compose (PostgreSQL, Redis, Traefik) and a Helm chart for Kubernetes.

A single maintenance fix addressing missing comment data in the carousel view.
Over the last several weeks NocoDB moved from a single bug fix into a heavy build-out phase, adding real-time collaboration features, a credits/billing gateway, and richer interface-building tools, while doing a large amount of visual polish. Recent weeks focused on a major dark-mode overhaul, migrating the styling engine, upgrading the underlying framework to Nuxt 4, and introducing a unified NocoAI assistant button. The arc shows the product maturing toward a more collaborative, monetizable, and visually refined platform.
Week by week
2026-08-24A polish week focused on the new NocoAI assistant, formula safety controls, and repairing styling regressions from the recent engine migration.latest6 changes
Feature
Single always-on NocoAI button
Consolidated all AI access into one persistent, recoloured NocoAI button so users have a clear single entry point to AI features.
Feature
Toggle for Postgres formula math behavior
Added a setting (NC_FORMULA_PG_IEEE) that controls how Postgres handles special formula cases like division by zero and blank-as-zero.
Fix
Restored styling lost in the CSS engine switch
Repaired form elements, colour ordering, and nested styling rules that broke when moving off the old WindiCSS styling system.
Fix
Clearer integration error messages
When an integration's option lists fail to load, users now see actionable errors instead of a silent failure.
Fix
Account tokens sidebar cleanup
Fixed the active-state highlight and removed a stray border on the empty API-tokens screen.
Fix
Interface grouping seeded correctly
Canvas grouping now starts from the saved visualization config so views group as expected.
2026-08-17A large week centered on a dark-mode refactor, upgrading to the Nuxt 4 framework, and improvements to workflow and data-import handling.6 changes
Feature
Dark mode refactor
Overhauled dark theme so form inputs, grid lines, card hovers, field labels, and prose render correctly across dark palettes.
Chore
Completed Nuxt 4 upgrade
Synced dependencies, lockfiles, and CI to finish moving the app onto the Nuxt 4 framework.
Feature
Richer workflow If-node conditions
The If node now offers select filter options and shows chosen values as coloured option chips.
Fix
Smarter Airtable import display values
Airtable imports now pick a usable display-value column and avoid creating duplicate title columns.
Fix
View sections/folders behavior
Fixed move-to-folder not showing in the sidebar and corrected default section, drag, and duplication behavior.
Fix
Nested lookup and currency fixes
Applied inner filter conditions in nested lookups and correctly handled a leading minus sign when pasting negative currency values.
2026-08-10A major build-out week delivering real-time grid presence, per-dashboard permissions, a credits gateway, and table folders.6 changes
Feature
Real-time grid collaborator presence
The grid now shows where collaborators are working — their cursors, held rows and cells, and the ability to follow-scroll to someone's focus.
Feature
Per-dashboard view/edit permissions
Dashboards gained fine-grained access controls so people can be granted view or edit rights individually.
Feature
Folders for organizing tables
Tables can now be grouped into folders interleaved within a source to keep large bases organized.
Fix
Friendlier SSO sign-in errors
Failed single sign-on attempts now show a real, user-friendly error page instead of a broken screen.
Fix
Safer public form submissions
Guarded public form data inserts against missing request data to prevent errors.
Fix
Reliable source connections
Source connections are now keyed correctly per base to avoid mixing up connections that share an id.
2026-08-03A busy week advancing the interface page builder, launching credits and billing infrastructure, and adding custom base icons.6 changes
Feature
Credits and billing gateway
Introduced a billable web service with credits UI, real-time credit handling, and license-key support to enable paid usage.
Feature
Interface page builder improvements
New pages can seed their config from an existing table view, and the Fields pane now drag-reorders fields for every visualization type.
Feature
Custom base icons everywhere
Bases can now show a custom icon on a tinted tile across the app, with the option to revert to the default.
Fix
Recover from a UI crash
The app now recovers gracefully from a Vue Suspense teardown crash instead of blanking the screen.
Fix
Correct record/layout deletion
Deleting a record-detail layout now removes just the layout rather than the whole page.

Reserved space so the icon picker's scrollbar is always clearly visible.
2026-07-27A single maintenance fix addressing missing comment data in the carousel view.1 change
